Radio Mic Technician No.2 (1559)

Do you have working knowledge of sound, communications and radio microphones in a theatre environment?  Can you operate Digico SDt & Axient software? Do you want to be part of a collaborative, ambitious and dynamic team? Are you available to work from early October through to January?  

We are looking for a Radio Mic Technician to program and operate as the No.2 Lead Radio Mic Technician on Wendy & Peter Pan and Twelfth Night at the Barbican, London.

Reporting to the Head of Sound, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list): 

  • To learn the desk plot & dep for the No.1 as appropriate.
  • To work closely with Barbican staff to support the show.
  • To support sound designers to realize their design by creatively assisting in the implementation of that design by radio mic placement & Prop maintenance.
  • To be responsible for daily sound requirements of the show.
  • To support sound related issues in pre planning meetings of shows and events in the Barbican, e.g. understudy rehearsals

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have: 

  • Working knowledge and understanding of sound, communications radio microphone placement and maintenance and sound-related disciplines in the theatre environment. 
  • Familiar & confident with the Digico SDt & Axient software
  • An understanding of Health and Safety legislation 
  • The ability to work on one's own initiative and within a strong team. 
  • Good communication skills. 

This is a full-time, fixed-term position, for 3.5 months based at the Barbican in London. You will be working an average of 48 hours per week hours per week, 6 days a week. The contract dates are 6 October 2025 until 18 January 2026.
