Assistant Puppet Technician (My Neighbour Totoro) (1534)
The Royal Shakespeare Company is looking for an Assistant Puppet Technician to work on our award-winning show, My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, in London.
This position is offered initially as a fixed term contract commencing on or around 21 July 2025 until July 2026.
As Assistant Puppet Technician you will, along with puppetry team, facilitate the smooth running of the show from a Puppetry perspective in the demanding backstage tracks during performances.
You will also ensure that the show's puppets are well maintained and show-ready for the duration of the production.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following:
- Experience working with puppets and/or props on a live theatrical production.
- Experience working with and supporting performers in live theatre performance.
- Experience in puppet fabrication; including sewing, paint finishes, mechs, patternmaking, glues, and foam.
- Discretion and ability to work closely with others.
- Basic knowledge of electrics would be helpful
My Neighbour Totoro performs 8 shows a week on a Tuesday to Sunday schedule, with matinees on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London.
