Senior Social Media Manager (1510)

Do you have demonstrable experience in content creation? Can you tell engaging stories through creative content and social media? Do you have excellent editorial judgement, an eye for detail and impeccable copywriting skills? Are you on top of ever-evolving social media trends and the wider digital marketing landscape? Do you have experience of filming and editing short-form social media video content?

We are looking for a creative and strategic Senior Social Media Manager to take our social media forward, developing a fresh, engaging and data driven approach across our channels. As a key voice for our brand, you'll be responsible for planning, commissioning and delivering standout content that deepens connection with our audiences, celebrates our work and raises awareness about our mission.  

Reporting to the Head of Audiences and Marketing, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Developing and leading a creative and inspiring social strategy for the RSC which reflects our mission and strategic plans.
  • Leading on the development, planning and curation of inspiring social media campaigns for all activity in Stratford-upon-Avon and on tour.
  • Working collaboratively to develop and implement our wider content strategy.
  • Overseeing the management of all paid social media advertising
  • Using Google Analytics and other social media built-in and add-on measurement tools to provide reports and data
  • Supporting with the execution of crisis communications
  • Engaging with key online influencers both online and in person
  • Line managing the Social Media Officer with responsibility for 121s, development and annual reviews.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Significant experience of working as a content creator, producer or social media manager in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to think creatively and tell engaging stories through content and social media.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, with a fantastic eye for detail and impeccable copywriting skills.
  • Experience of Adobe Suite, video and graphic editing skills together with experience of filming and editing simple, short-form video content for social media.
  • Enthusiasm for ever-evolving social media trends and the wider digital marketing landscape.
  • A proven track record of managing online communities, dealing effectively with negative online comments/feedback and driving positive engagement.
  • Willingness to work outside of ‘normal' work hours when needed.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although some degree of flexibility will be required according to workload, including some evening and weekend work. Options for flexible working, home working and part time will be considered.

The Senior Social Media Manager role is based within the fast-paced Audiences and Marketing department and works closely across Marketing, Media and Communications and the wider organisation. It requires a confident, creative communicator and leader who can build strong relationships production teams, creatives, actors and senior leaders and deliver timely, high-impact content, understanding its impact and championing it to others. The postholder must be responsive to trends, audience-focused, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure, while staying adaptable in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
